Who are these modules for?
This learning is designed for everyone working in Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC), including
Child Care Assistants, Early Childhood Educators, supervisors, mentors, and other ELCC staff.
While many examples reflect Indigenous ELCC settings, the concepts are valuable across a
variety of early learning environments.
What will I learn?
Modules weave together Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing, research informed
early childhood practice, reflection, videos, interactive activities and practical strategies that can
be applied directly in your work with children, families, colleagues, and communities.
Are the modules self-led?
Yes. Learn when, where, and at the pace that works best for you.
How long does each module take?
Modules are designed to take approximately 3 hours to complete. This estimate includes not
only the online learning content, but also the take it back to practice activities, opportunities for
reflection, and time to apply new ideas within your own learning environment before returning
to the module.
Because the learning is self lead, the actual time will vary. Some learners may move through the
online content more quickly, while others may choose to spend additional time reflecting,
revisiting concepts, engaging with their learning partner, or implementing ideas into practice.
The full learning pathway has been designed to provide approximately 40 hours of professional
learning when learners meaningfully engage with the course content, reflection activities, and
practice application.
Can I stop and come back later?
Yes. Your progress is saved.
Can I return to completed modules?
Absolutely. Revisit them anytime. You have up to 1 year to complete any module you have
begun.
Is this training about memorizing information?
No. This learning focuses on reflection relationships and practical application. The goal is not
simply to learn new information, but to strengthen how you think, connect and practice
alongside children, families, colleagues and communities
Why does the course focus so much on reflection?
Lasting change happens through reflection and practice period each module encourages you to
pause, consider your own experiences, apply new ideas and build understanding over time.
What if I already know this material?
The modules are designed to encourage reflection and application, not simply knowledge
acquisition. Even experienced educators often discover new perspectives through the reflection
questions, videos, and practice activities.
Do I have to complete the modules in order?
No. You may begin wherever feels most relevant to your role or interests. That said, the learning
journey was intentionally designed to follow a relational arc-from understanding self, to
strengthening relationships with others, and finally to creating change within the community.
Completing the modules in this sequence allows each learning experience to build on the last
and provide the fullest understanding of the concepts and practices explored throughout the
program.
Each module is designed to stand on its own while contributing to a broader journey of
reflection and practice.
Are there activities?
Yes. Reflection questions, interactive activities, and opportunities to apply your learning are
included.
What are Take It Back to Practice opportunities?
Each module includes opportunities to intentionally apply one or more ideas within your own
learning environment before returning to reflect on what you noticed, learned, or would adapt
next time.
What is an Integration Sheet?
At the end of each module, you’ll receive an Integration Sheet summarizing key learning, reflection questions, and practical strategies to support continued practice and team discussions.
What is a Learning Partner?
A learning partner someone who supports your reflection throughout the learning journey. They might be a colleague, supervisor, mentor, elder, knowledge keeper, or another trusted person who can help deepen your thinking and celebrate your growth.
Do I need a Learning Partner?
No. It is optional for professional learning but may be required for certification or by your organization.
How is completion tracked?
Completion is based on finishing the required learning content and activities within each module.
Can this learning count toward a Child Care Assistant certificate?
Yes. The platform may also be used as part of a Child Care Assistant certification pathway. Learners complete all required modules, additional learning activities, and program requirements with the support of a Learning Partner.
Can I download resources?
Yes. Each module includes a practice integration sheet that you can download and keep as a reference. It brings together key ideas, reflection prompts and helpful resources and links that are explored throughout the module, making it easy to revisit your learning and continue applying it in practice.
What if I need technical support?
Contact your learning administrator or visit the Help section.
How long will I have access to my modules?
You have access to any module you have started for up to one year from the date you begin it. During that time, you may return to completed modules as often as you’d like to review content and revisit your learning. After one year of inactivity, your account may be deactivated and your learning records archived according to platform policies.
Do I have to complete a module in one sitting?
No. Your progress is automatically saved, so you can leave a module at any time and return where you left off.
Can I complete the learning on my phone or tablet?
Yes. The platform is designed to work across computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
Do I receive a certificate after each module?
