Create Space for the Learning
As you begin each module, consider setting aside time when you can be present and relatively uninterrupted.
Throughout the modules, you will encounter video recordings, teachings and reflections shared by Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers and community members. When you see the play symbol, pause and give yourself time to listen.
You may also want to keep your Learning Bundle, notebook or reflection materials nearby.
What You Will Encounter
The visual below illustrates how a learner might move through each module.
The Medicine Wheel Reflections
At the beginning of each module, you will be invited to pause and reflect using the Medicine Wheel. You will return to the reflection at the end of the module, not to judge your first response, but to notice what may have shifted, deepened or become clearer.
There are no perfect answers. The purpose is to make your learning visible to yourself. Reflection is part of how learning is recognized throughout this program. Your reflections are not graded for having the “right” answer. They help you notice your thinking, make connections and identify how your understanding and practice are developing.
Completion reflects meaningful engagement with the process, not the disclosure of private experiences or the quality of a personal response.
The Teaching Behind the Learning Bundle
As you move through these modules, you will encounter teachings, reflections, questions and experiences that hold meaning for you.
Rather than allowing each piece of learning to remain separate, you will be invited to gather what you want to remember, carry and record your thoughts in the Medicine Wheel Reflection. Each module will provide you with the opportunity to enter your reflections you’d like to carry forward. These pieces will become part of your personal Learning Bundle.
Next, we invite you to learn about the traditional teaching that informs this approach.
Gathering, Carrying and Sharing Your Learning
Like the gifts carried within a traditional bundle, the learning you gather throughout these modules is not meant to remain separate or be left behind when a module ends.
Your learning bundle will help you bring together the teachings, reflections, ideas, resources, and experiences that are meaningful to you. Each item you add becomes part of what you carry forward into your practice.
Your Learning Bundle Will Travel With You
You will begin building your Learning Bundle as you move through these modules. At different points, you will be invited to pause and consider what you want to gather and carry forward.
In the capstone module, you will open your bundle of reflections, look across what you have collected and consider how the pieces connect. You will use your bundle to bring your learning together and identify how you will continue applying and sharing it in your practice, relationships and community.
Your bundle does not represent the end of your learning. It holds what you have gathered so far, and what you are ready to carry forward.
What Reflections May Be Included in Your Learning Bundle
Throughout the modules, you’ll receive reflection and practice integration sheets. These sheets will invite you to pause and write down what you are noticing, questioning, learning, or considering for your practice period they will become part of your learning bundle, along with anything else you choose to gather along the way.
You are learning bundle is a place to gather what matters to you.
It may include:
- Teachings or quotations you want to remember
- Completed reflection and practice integration sheets
- Questions you are still carrying
- Resources you want to return to
- Observations and connections from your practice
- Ideas you want to try or share with others
You do not need to include everything or create additional work. Your bundle simply holds the pieces of learning that you want to remember, revisit, or carry into your practice.
Check Your Understanding
Take a moment to check your understanding before continuing. This activity is not graded.
